01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

The fragrant aroma rising from skewers grilled carefully over charcoal whets the appetite from the moment you step in. At Yakitori Tsukada Nakameguro (焼鳥つかだ 中目黒店), the skewer selection showcases cuts prepared to highlight their distinct qualities, from signature furisode (shoulder cut) to thigh, seseri (neck), and sori (chicken oyster). The chicken meatballs alone invite comparison, with choices ranging from plump, lightly salted shio-tsukune to rich tsukimi-tsukune served with an egg yolk.

For first-time visitors, ordering a set course offers a seamless way to enjoy the kitchen's highlights at a steady pace. Along with yakitori and grilled vegetable skewers, the meal includes a trio of appetizers—jidori chicken carpaccio, liver pâté, and pure white potato salad—before moving on to specialties like a jidori chicken and spicy cod roe spring roll. The special course concludes with a choice of finale, letting diners pick between a charcoal-grilled jidori oyakodon or spicy Miyazaki noodles.

Drink pairings between skewers are well supported by draft beer, bottled Sapporo Akaboshi, sakes like Gorin and Banshu Ikkon, as well as an array of highballs and shochu. The dining space accommodates different occasions with counter seating close to the grill alongside private rooms for a quieter meal. For an evening centered on skewers and drinks, it is an address worth booking in advance.
